Ask now shows a live draft while it writes an answer and reports how many sources its final verification has reviewed. The answer can take shape on screen while its supporting evidence is still being checked.
A provisional answer is labelled “Live draft” and “Still being checked. Details may change.” Source reading, writing and final verification have their own progress states. When another source read is needed, the draft clears while Ask gathers that evidence; the next draft can reflect what it found.
During final verification, a reviewed-source count shows progress through the sources. The saved answer replaces the provisional draft after that stage. Any reported evidence limitations belong to the resulting answer and its source status; a visible draft has not completed those checks.
The live preview survives a brief connection loss and can rebuild after a page reload while the run is still active. Stopping generation discards the unverified preview. A provisional passage does not become a saved answer or highlight just because it appeared on screen.
A later update added live AI usage alongside this progress. When the provider reports input usage at the start of a call, Ask shows it while the call runs. Confirmed token totals and the available cost subtotal follow when the call finishes. The display distinguishes a model call in progress from a local source read. Stopped answers keep the recorded usage from completed calls in their response details.
The final answer and its sources remain in the same Ask conversation for later review.
Development record: October 5, 2026, for live drafts and source-verification progress; November 3, 2026, for live usage. Written retrospectively.
